Suburban Odyssey by Shaun Tan

2011 ALMA recipient Shaun Tan’s exhibition Suburban Odyssey is right now presented at the Fremantle Arts Centre in Western Australia. The exhibits are a number of large scale paintings, as well as a smaller recent works and illustrations. Many works are presented for the first time ever. Shaun Tan states: “What makes this exhibition unique is that it features personal works that have almost never been previously exhibited, and which I also consider to be my most significant work as an artist.”

Journalist Darren Jorgensen reviewed the exhibition in the West Australian: “Many Australian artists celebrate the boredom of the suburban landscape, but Tan is able to breathe magic into the streetscapes of Perth.”
