And the Nominees are …

The nominated candidates for the 2011 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award will be announced during the Frankfurt Book Fair.

The candidates who have a chance of winning the world’s largest award for children’s literature (approx. 500 000 EUR) will be revealed on October 7th by Larry Lempert, Chairman of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award jury.

The jury with the hard task to select the winner(s):

Prior to the announcement, the recipient of the 2010 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, Belgian illustrator Kitty Crowther, will present her work in a discussion with Judith Drews, illustrator and representative of Illustratoren Organisation e.V. and Andreas Platthaus, journalist Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Last year 165 candidates were nominated from 60 countries. From this list the jury chose Kitty Crowther as the winner.

The event, which is a cooperation between the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and Frankfurt Book Fair, will begin at 4 pm at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Forum Children’s Books, Hall 3.0, Stand number K 389.
