Reunion of Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award-winners in Santiago de Compostela

Not only many organizations eligible to nominate candidates for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award are present at the 32nd IBBY Congress in Santiago de Compostela, but also no less than three previous winners!

On Friday, Brazilian author Lygia Bojunga (2004) opened the congress with a dramatic monologue called LIVRO – eu te lendo. It was a personal account of her six love affairs in her life so far. Among them Dostoyevsky, Poe, Rilke and Pessoa. Lygia Bojunga’s background as an actress was apparent as she captured the audience!

Also participating in the congress is Tamer Institute of Community Education (2009) from Palestine and Banco del Libro (2007) from Venezuela. Below you see them receiving the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in Stockholm from the hands of HRH Crown Princess Victoria.
